Critical fire weather is anticipated this afternoon into the evening across the higher terrain of southern Gila County and the Tonto National Forest foothills east of Phoenix. This is due to the combination of low relative humidity, very gusty winds, and dry fuels. Any new fire starts could rapidly grow out of control. As a result, a Red Flag Warning is in effect.
